"I would recommend Tuition plus to anyone who is looking for 11+ support for their child. Bal has taught two of my children. My older son successfully passed for Bishop Vesey after learning in the face to face sessions and my younger son is heading towards the 11+ this September after studying via zoom.
Bal genuinely cares about the children and builds a great relationship with them. She is incredibly patient and explains things in a way that the children can understand. She gently encourages and prompts them towards the answer if they are not sure, so they gain confidence in their own abilities. With my older son, this was particularly important as he didn't believe he could succeed.
During the various lockdowns I have found Bal very flexible, when there has been sessions that we can't manage, she has found another time to fit my son in. She will also cover specific items if I pick up certain issues when doing practice papers so we can improve the weaker areas.
The zoom sessions have been engaging but challenging and I always get proper feedback so I can see exactly what my son has covered and how well he has done. The work covered and set is varied and is not just paper after paper like some 11+ tutors.
Bal has really helped both my children, but over the last 12 months during lockdown her help has been invaluable in working towards the 11+ when the work provided by school has been at a more basic level."

“My daughter started at Tuition+ just after the October half-term in Y4. She needed additional help with her comprehension and writing. By the end of Y4, it was so obvious that she was much better, that her school teacher made comments. We began her 11+ preparation in the beginning of Y5. Bal was really good at understanding my daughter's specific needs, and this helped us decide what to focus on during the summer before the actual exam. "In the Sutton area there are lots of tutors who profess to offer support for
children looking to take the 11+. When my daughter registered an interest in taking the grammar school entrance exam I had reservations about the whole tutoring process. Consequently, I entered the 'search for a tutor' process with a very clear view about what I did and did not want from a tutor.
I wanted someone who would encourage my daughter to be the best that she could be, not a tutor who would 'hot house' her through the exam. It was important to me that my daughter enjoyed and benefitted from the whole experience of additional learning and didn't feel pressured in anyway.
Bal ticked every box in this respect. My daughter felt supported and encouraged throughout the whole tutoring process and the icing on the cake was a successful 11+ exam result. "Around 3 years ago our eldest son didn't feel he was being challenged at school and asked if he could have extra tuition. A friend recommended Bal and Tuition Plus to us.
He started going to the weekly sessions in Mere Green and really enjoyed them. The lessons were individually tailored for his level and he was given relevant homework to bring home and complete ready for the next session.
Feedback from Bal was frequent and comprehensive, with pointers for us as parents to support him and help him develop.
As the tuition progressed Bal introduced more specific topics which were directly related to the 11+ structure and began giving him an understanding of how to approach the test itself.
When lockdown happened Bal gave us the option of continuing tuition via Zoom calls on a one-to-one basis, which we took. The sessions were excellent, the technology worked well and allowed Bal to provide exactly the same standard of tutoring as if they were meeting in person.
The preparation and guidance from Bal on how to tackle the 11+ helped our son when he took both the Birmingham and Walsall Grammar School tests, he was really relaxed and achieved high scores in both. He has been offered his first choice of a place at Bishop Vesey.
Despite his natural ability, I do believe that Bal helped bring the best out of him and perhaps more importantly, prepared him for the exam, meaning he felt confident when he sat it.
On a personal note Bal makes a real connection with the children and genuinely cares about them and helping them achieve their potential.
We were so impressed that our younger son has just taken over his big brother's slot and is now chasing the same goal as him!

"Both of my children each spent an academic year (yr 5) working with Bal and her team at Tuition plus to help them successfully prepare for the11 plus.
Both of my children enjoyed going to the sessions and felt that they were supported by the staff. The work provided challenge as well as consolidation and they knew that they could ask for help if they were unsure.
The work was tailored to the needs of the child, strengths identified and areas to be worked on supported both in class and with homework. I was advised on any additional material to purchase e.g. vocab cards, 10 minute tests, practice 11 plus tests etc. and any observations I noticed from doing the supplementary material was passed on and incorporated in their sessions.
My daughter was also able to attend sessions during the summer prior to her 11 plus and these provided great opportunities for weekly test practice, analysis of areas to work on and feedback.
My son worked with Bal prior to and during the first few lockdowns of 2020 so his sessions were a combination of small group in person and 1:1 through zoom. During the 1:1 sessions there was the potential for it to become very intense, however Bal's great relationship with him and the variety in tasks meant that he didn't become too overwhelmed and he looked forward to his sessions.
